Edibles Dosing Guide: How Much Should You Take?
Edibles are one of the most popular cannabis products, but they're also the easiest to overdo. Unlike smoking or vaping, edibles take 30 minutes to 2 hours to kick in and the effects can last 4-8 hours. Here's how to dose correctly.
Understanding THC Milligrams
Edible potency is measured in milligrams (mg) of THC. A standard dose is considered 10mg, but that's actually too much for many people. Start low and go slow - this is the golden rule of edibles.
Dosing by Experience Level
Beginners (no tolerance): 2.5mg - 5mg. Start with half a gummy or a micro-dose. Wait at least 2 hours before considering more.
Occasional users: 5mg - 15mg. A standard gummy or chocolate piece. You know what cannabis feels like and can handle a moderate dose.
Regular users: 15mg - 50mg. You have a established tolerance and know how edibles affect you personally.
High tolerance: 50mg+. Only for experienced users who have built up significant tolerance over time.
Golden Rules
Always wait at least 2 hours before taking more. Eat a meal beforehand - edibles hit harder on an empty stomach. Stay hydrated, and have CBD on hand as it can help counteract an overly intense experience.
