Some sources suggest that Philly Special marries the lineage of Sour Diesel and OG Kush, but that lineage is often associated with the Sour OG strain created by Coastal Genetics (though this strain also often features Blueberry, according to others). Other sources give credit to Agri Kind, suggesting the first seed was a high performing outlier that stood out in another batch. Clearly unrelated to the rest of the mature plants (reportedly based on appearance and lab testing), Agri Kind named it Philly Special — perhaps in honor of its bright, cheesy pistils that weave through each bud like the molten layers of a traditional cheesesteak.
